We try to develop a bond with that audience. I want them to say, 'Hey, the Army was here -- the Army is cool!'
That's a quote from an article from Salon about the Army's recruitment of inner-city youth; I just find the concept of the Army having to market itself very slightly bizarre. I suppose there probably aren't enough idealists out there to support our armed forces, but somehow the idea of the Army having a marketing department is extraordinarily comic. There's a dystopian sci-fi short story in there somewhere, I think, though maybe Lucius Shepard has already done one. I should go read more Shepard, though that's a pretty general state of being.
