Out of the Blue

Got a phone call today:

"Hi, Jessica? I'm the editor of a magazine for Jewish women and we've heard about your biblical poetry series. We've seen a sample and are interested in publishing it. Give us a call."

Of course, this means that I should probably start writing some more damn poems in that series again . . . .

My proposal for the Networks, Art and Collaboration conference is in. Whew! I wasn't sure I was going to make it in time! I'm doubly excited because I actually used this proposal as an opportunity to develop some new aspects of my theories on interactive storytelling - ones that I think I can turn into an article this spring. Basically, I've started breaking down the problems of collaborative storytelling and will hopefully be conducting an interactive workshop on the problems of authority (who gets final say about how the story goes), genre (how the group agrees on what the story is about and what kinds of things are appropriate) and pace (how a group can create a story that has a meaningful narrative arc). If I can get two more similar categories, I could probably do ten thousand words or more on the topic. I'm realizing that maybe I do have enough material to write a book this spring . . . of course, it will only be a first draft because I have a lot of reading to do before I can address existing theoretical work on this topic, but it'll be a stab at getting my ideas down and publicizing them.

We'll see . . . .
