I’ve been mildly obsessed with the song “Baby Got Back” ever since highschool, when I learned all the words due to my sister’s incessant singing and re-singing of it right down the hall. There’s a version floating around out there in Latin, but for sheer amusement value, I prefer the lounge-ified one.
I get really scared of being this guy. Those of you who know me: if I haven’t finished my degree four years from now, please HURT ME. Thank you.
I find that I go through phases of intense productivity followed by phases of intense procrastination - but procrastination that is itself quite productive, either because I get hugely involved in some other project (which is sometimes worthwhile in itself - viz. Game Chef) or because I find that afterwards I have my most creative ideas as I’ve clearly been percolating.
I’m not sure if I’m just deluding myself that this is the case, though, and I’m really a lazy bum. Can I get a reality check?
For the game designers reading this: check out the game koans from this awesome board-gaming blog. I’m not only a proud designer with feet in many worlds (board game, card game, role-playing game, computer game), but also someone much in need of a little zen as I work frantically to finish up my MacArthur book chapter proposal before Shabbat.
Wish me luck, folks. Me, I hope I play.
