I Wanna Be a Rock Star

For my thirtieth birthday - almost one month ago now, and for the record, my thirties have been terrific so far - my boyfriend gave me a bass.

I’ve been wanting to learn to play the bass since college, when a friend of mine stored his bass in my room.  I’d noodle around on it but I didn’t know what the hell I was doing - and just as I started to figure out a few things, of course, he wanted it back.

This time, though, I’ve got a gorgeous black bass (I’d post a link, but I don’t know the model number) and my very own amp and a month of free lessons from my musician friend Ike, and I am totally going to be a rock star.

All this to say, I really, really want to go to Ladies Rock Camp.  Unfortunately I think I’m presenting a paper at Media in Transition 5 that weekend.  I don’t think I can justify blowing off the conference to go play bass in Oregon … right?

I’m just going to have to find another way to be a rock star.
