For those in and around New York City:
River to River and The Drawing Center present The Big Draw on September 9 from 11:00am – 4:00pm at Teardrop Park/Battery Park City Park Conservancy, Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, South Street Seaport Museum, and the Winter Garden & Plaza at the World Financial Center. FREE.
The Big Draw is an all day event of participatory drawing inspired by the wildly popular UK program of the same name. Making its New York City debut, The Big Draw was established in 2000 as a project of The Campaign for Drawing. Audiences of all ages are invited to engage in hands-on art projects. Participants are encouraged to pick up a free sketchbook and participate in artist-led drawing activities in four fantastic Lower Manhattan venues – Battery Park City Parks Conservancy’s Teardrop Park, Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, South Street Seaport Museum, and the Winter Garden & Plaza at the World Financial Center. It sounds fantastic (particularly as I have all these crazy art-makin’ friends), but it’s on Shabbat so I can’t exactly participate. Someone want to go and give me a full report?
