Registration for classes just opened, so I checked to see how many students are registered for my spring game design class. The answer? Fifteen. In, like, three days. Whoa. I may have to cap enrollment!
If I get another ten or so students, I rate a paid TA. But several students who’ve taken the class in the past have asked me about an informal TA arrangement, where they get to sit in on the class and get their projects critiqued in return for doing TA-ly duties. So it’s not like I necessarily need a TA. On the other hand, it would be nice to be able to pay them. But on the third hand, I think that having too big a class will hurt everyone’s learning experience.
Sadly, I doubt I have the time to teach two sections, even if it does mean twice the pay ….
Maybe I’ll ask my advisor what he thinks. I bet he’ll have some good ideas.
