An Invitation

I’m going to be doing A Thing A Day again this year, and if you’re reading this, then I’d like to invite you to participate along with me.

The goal is to spend twenty to sixty minutes, every day for a month, making something. This could be an art or craft you practice regularly, or something you’ve always wanted to try. You can work on the same kind of thing for a month, or try something different every day. The point is to develop your creative discipline - and to end the month with a whole bunch of neat things you made!

I haven’t quite decided yet what I’ll be working on. I know I’ll definitely have to stick to the shorter-projects end of the spectrum, since I’ve got my quals at the end of the month. Fail them, and I’m essentially out of grad school! So, er, studying is going to be happening. But I want to remember to balance my academic requirements with my creative life, and I think this project will help me do that.

As always, I’m taking suggestions for topics, themes, forms, media, or even specific pieces you’d like to commission. Helping me with the what-do-I-make phase of the day will let me get to the making faster!

If you’re going to participate, drop me a line and let me know what name you’re posting under. But don’t forget - you have to sign up by January 31st or you’re going to have to Thing on your own time.
