This is more of a note to myself than anything else: since I stopped mentoring and teaching in January, I haven't been doing any volunteer work of any kind (unless you count the "Technology for Artists" class I was doing, but that hardly counts because it was for my friends). I don't want to make any commitments now, because my summer schedule is so screwy and I don't know what my academic schedule will look like, but when it's time, I want to use these guys. I'm often frustrated because many volunteer positions don't use my particular skills and talents, but it seems like they're particularly interested in matching skilled volunteers with positions where they can be best used. I'm sure there's a program out there that needs a gifted computer teacher, or someone who likes to talk about books, or just a plain old mentor - and I want them to help me find it.
I do feel kind of guilty about waiting until September, since I haven't done much since February, but I don't want to commit to something I can't follow through on . . . .
