Jerry Springer

At the gym this morning, Jerry Springer was on all the televisions, and I couldn't help thinking about the structure of a talk show as an improvisational, collaborative story. You've got the host who coordinates and decides what the story is about, what the shape of it is like, when new characters come in . . . but both the participants and the audience also shape how the story turns out. I bet you could make a fantastic mini-rpg based on the structure of the talk show, but I'd have to watch a lot more talk shows before I could write the game. Maybe after the play is done. -g-

i never cease to be amazed by the hardships through which some people will put themselves in service to their art. ow.

There's a fantastic book called "The Money Shot" which is about the hidden structure of talk shows. Maybe you could read that instead of watching a bunch of them. <g>

Well hey, if people in England can make a musical based on Jerry Springer, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for you to come up with something else with the same inspiration. Let me know how it goes!

Oh darn, I guess I should have known that. Now I'll go cry myself to sleep now and curse this horrible world for not educating me on such important matters. :p
